Some days, addiction makes every hour feel impossible, but you can survive today. Start with what’s in front of you: breathe deep—count to 10 slowly, in and out. It sounds small, but it steadies your mind. Grab a glass of water and sip it; it’s a tiny win that grounds you. Now, pick one thing to do. Step outside for a minute—feel the air. Or sit still and look at something real, like a tree or a photo. If you’re in Will County, call 1-833-234-6343—they’ll listen, no pressure. Addiction screams that tomorrow’s too big, but you don’t need tomorrow yet. Just this day, this hour. I knew someone who’d set a timer for 10 minutes—just to make it through that chunk. She’d reset it, over and over, until the day ended. Now she’s in recovery. You’re tougher than addiction thinks—prove it with one move. If you stumble, that’s okay; it’s not failure, it’s practice. Maybe you call a friend and say, “Today’s rough.” Maybe you dial Gateway in Joliet at (815) 553-1520 for a real talk. The point is, you don’t have to climb a mountain—just take a step. Today’s enough, and you’re enough to handle it. You’re not alone; people want you to win this.
